Australian Art Fair Foundation (AAFF) respects the privacy of your personal information and is committed to handling it in accordance with this privacy statement (Privacy Statement)

Personal information is information which identifies an individual or from which the identity of the individual can be reasonably ascertained.  The personal information which AAFF collects about you when you join our email distribution list may include your name, email address and the postcode of your residence.  Please refer to the section below on 'Social media platforms' in relation to information which you may provide via our pages on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. 

We ask that you read and agree to the terms of this Privacy Statement before joining our email distribution list and/or signing up as a friend of Art Month on Facebook, and/or as a follower of Art Month on Twitter (and/or any other social media platforms that we may join in the future). 

This Privacy Statement governs our collection and use of the personal information which you voluntarily provide directly to us when joining our mailing list, and/or personal information which you voluntarily provide to AAFF via Facebook, Twitter or other social media platforms that we may join in the future. 

AAFF's Operations

AAFF is staging the Art Month Sydney festival.

Purposes of information collection

We collect personal information in the ordinary course of business to build a database of people who have interests in the visual arts with the objectives of:

  • better understanding the interests of Art Month audiences;
  • providing those people with information about events which may be of interest to them; and
  • responding to any specific inquiries which you might send to us through our website or through a social media platform (see below). 

We will only use your information for these specific purposes, unless otherwise required or authorised by law.

Social media platforms

We currently have dedicated Art Month pages hosted by Facebook and Twitter to which you have the option of subscribing.  In the future we may join other platforms similar to Facebook and Twitter (Facebook, Twitter and other similar platforms are referred to as Social Media Platforms).  You may join our mailing list without subscribing to any of our pages on Social Media Platforms. 

The terms of this Privacy Statement apply to information which you may provide to AAFF through Social Media Platforms. 

However, you should be aware that depending on the personal privacy settings which you adopt on particular Social Media Platforms,  all the information you post through one of AAFF's pages on such platforms may become available to other subscribers to the same Social Media Platforms or generally available to the public.  You should not post any personal information through one of AAFF's pages that you do not wish to be available to the public and you should not post the personal information of any other person without their express consent.

Consequences if requested information is not provided

If you do not provide information which we request, or if that information is incomplete or inaccurate, we may not be able to provide you with information about Art Month Sydney events which might be of interest to you.

Disclosure of your personal information to others

Please read the information under the 'Social media platforms' heading above in relation to any information you may post through one of AAFF's pages on a Social Media Platform,

We will not disclose any other personal information which you may provide us to third parties without your prior consent, except in the following circumstances:

  • If we engage a contractor or service provider to do something on our behalf (in which case, unless we tell you otherwise, they will only be authorised to use the personal information we disclose to them for the purpose of providing the service or performing the function required by us); or
  • Where we are required or authorised to do so by law, including (without limitation) to government agencies or in emergency situations and when assisting in law enforcement.


How is your personal information stored?

AAFF acknowledges that 'perfect security' does not exist on the internet.  Thus AAFF cannot guarantee that your personal information will never be accessed by unauthorised parties.  However AAFF uses technology and other means to ensure that the personal information it holds is as secure from unauthorised access, destruction, use, modification or disclosure as it reasonably can be.  Our employees are authorised to access personal information only to perform their particular functions.

Cookies and your options

We use data collection devices such as cookies on certain pages of our website.  'Cookies' are small files placed on your hard drive that enable AAFF to recognise you as a previous visitor to our website and its services and that assist AAFF in providing customised services.  Cookies are stored on your hard drive, not on our website.  Most cookies are 'session cookies', meaning that they are automatically deleted at the end of a session.  You must accept our cookies in order to authenticate your registration and session information.

You can adjust the settings on your browser to erase or block cookies and similar technologies from your computer if you want to.  However, if you do so you may not be able to use or access certain features of our services or they may not work very well.

Access to personal information
